THE COUNTRY CLUB

19 Mill Farm Lane, Millbrook Country Club

Set high on a north-facing, sun-filled site, this Mason & Wales design looks over Coronet 5’s fairway and Mill Stream to Coronet Peak, Mt Dewar and the Crown Range.

Soft modern farmhouse interiors meet timeless Central Otago textures, with a wraparound patio that makes outdoor living effortless, from fireside evenings to post-ski drinks. Inside, the open-plan lounge, dining and kitchen sit beneath a high gabled ceiling, centred on a schist fireplace and framed by full-height glazing. The kitchen is timeless and confident, finished with gold-toned hardware and a generous scullery. Timber panelling and steel joinery add quiet polish.

A darkened media room with built-in bar invites cosy nights. The master suite opens to the spa, with walk-in robe and beautifully tiled ensuite. Two further bedrooms, each with ensuite, offer privacy and flexibility. The larger loft-style bedroom will comfortably accommodate smaller family units, or could be reconfigured to create a fourth bedroom if required. A smart forecourt, ample parking and a large garage complete the welcome.

life at Millbrook

You live on a private 650‑acre estate in the Wakatipu Basin, surrounded by fairways, streams and tree‑lined lanes, with panoramic views to Coronet Peak, the Crown Range and The Remarkables.

Every morning you hop in your golf cart or on your bike and are working out in the gym or counting lengths in the heated lap pool within a few minutes of leaving home.

Your neighbours are business leaders, entrepreneurs and seasoned pontificators, so every casual chat at the Clubhouse gives you fresh ideas, insight and valuable connections.

You watch premier events like the New Zealand Open and the Queenstown Marathon unfold around you, so world‑class sport becomes part of your everyday backdrop rather than a once‑off spectacle.

You step out the door to a 36‑hole championship course with practice facilities and coaching on site, so you can chase a serious handicap or slip out for a relaxing twilight nine whenever you like.

You treat yourself at Millbrook’s award‑winning spa whenever you choose, so therapeutic massages, facials and beauty treatments become part of how you live rather than an occasional indulgence.

The resort has its own Members‑only Country Club with a packed calendar of golf days, social events and member activities. Forming genuine friendships and connections comes easily here.

You step onto kilometres of walking and biking trails that wind through Millbrook and link into the Wakatipu Trails, giving you endless runs, rides and family walks straight from your front door.

You choose between golf, tennis, petanque or volleyball when visitors arrive, so you always have an easy, active way to entertain friends and family without leaving the resort.

You watch your children or visiting grandkids ride safely along quiet roads and wide paths to friends’ houses, the playground or the Clubhouse, which gives you real peace of mind about their independence.

You hold freehold title to your property while the resort looks after roads, services and shared spaces, so you enjoy the benefits of a managed community and keep your day‑to‑day life remarkably simple.

You are only a short drive or relaxed bike ride from historic Arrowtown and the Ayrburn precinct to enjoy cafés, restaurants and walking tracks, then retreat home whenever you feel like quiet and space again.

You take advantage of free, on-demand resort shuttles to and from Arrowtown, and scheduled shuttles to and from Queenstown for shopping, dining or visiting friends and family.

You experience each season in full colour, from frosty blue‑sky mornings and golden autumn trees to spring blossom and long summer evenings, so you always feel connected to the rhythms around you.

You benefit from a strong sense of security, with controlled access, on‑site staff and neighbours who look out for each other, which makes it easy for you to lock up and travel for weeks at a time.

You open your calendar to regular owner and member events, from golf tournaments to long lunches and wine dinners, which means you step into a ready‑made social life from your very first week.

You drive a short distance to Coronet Peak, The Remarkables or Cardrona on winter mornings, then return to your own hot pool or fire, so ski days feel luxurious even when you are close to home.

You enjoy a full Health & Fitness Centre with a modern gym, 25‑metre heated lap pool, saunas and outdoor hot pools, making it incredibly easy for you to keep a consistent wellness routine year‑round.

a personal note

When my wife and I (and our then 3-year-old boy) moved to Queenstown, we looked at a range of different properties across the Basin, ultimately deciding that we wanted to be close to Arrowtown while retaining the sense of privacy and space that our previous home gave us.

During our final visit before committing to a purchase, we stayed at Millbrook. By our last day, we were feeling a bit disheartened and slightly concerned to have not yet found a property that matched our requirements and felt right.

It was over breakfast that morning that I asked, “Why haven’t we considered buying here in Millbrook?”

After an initial light-hearted response from my wife, noting that she was not yet ready to take up bowls and bingo, we discussed it further. We took the time to question our preconceived beliefs and seek the information required to understand more about it. As it happens, we knew very little, and our assumptions were quite off the mark.

We learned that we needn’t be golf pros (as we most certainly are not) to enjoy living on a magnificently beautiful and manicured 650-acre estate, especially without being responsible for maintaining a single square metre of it.

We found that most homes were owned (and occupied either permanently or part-time) by entrepreneurs, business leaders, and seasoned pontificators.

We realised that the associated membership and estate fees more than easily stacked up when all things were considered.

We started to feel excited about the prospect of living within a short walk, bike, or cart of what would become our gym, heated pool, playgrounds, restaurants, and one of the world’s best spas. We loved the idea of living in a postcard throughout each of the four distinct seasons.

In what seemed like the universe nudging us with a quiet “yes”, only a week later, the perfect home was listed in Millbrook and we jumped at the opportunity. Needless to say, we have never looked back - not least because every time we drive through those gates, our eyes are drawn to the absolutely magnificent beauty of this place we feel so fortunate to have found.

If you are yet to find the right place and have not given Millbrook due consideration, I hope that by sharing our experience, you might feel more encouraged and open-minded to doing the same.
